Operation OverMed is a new cause brought to us by artist, activist, and war hero Mike Whiter. Mike is a veteran and has started a new series for his photography portfolio that focuses on a major problem our war heroes are facing…Over Medication by our Veteran Affairs.

Soldiers are being prescribed and inundated with heavy duty pharmaceuticals for symptoms of PTSD with serious side affects that are affecting not only their daily lives but that of their families. Is it the doctors fault? No, traditional medicine sometimes treat symptoms with things that are worse than what condition is afflicting them. However, more science is coming out that shows that yes, Cannabis is showing great promise in being an answer for a lot of patients. And by the way, just this past May 2015 the Senate Appropriations Committee approved Medical Marijuana for the VA and told the DEA to submit a plan for allowing more Medical Marijuana research.

There are alternatives! In 2013, a study suggesting the important link between the Endo-Cannaboid System and the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Martin Lee sums up the study very well.
